OUR ORGANIZATION

In 1980 a group of young moms met and recognized the need in Oakville for a place where parents could meet new friends, learn more about parenting and offer their children a healthy and safe environment where they could learn and play.  This group of volunteer parents was committed to creating this special "place" in our community and from this energy the first program for the Oakville Parent-Child Centre was developed.  "Mothers are People Too" began in a church basement and was the beginning of 25 years of program growth and development for the Oakville Parent-Child Centre...

The Mission Statement of the Oakville Parent-Child Centre reflects the committment we have to families and children and the value we place on giving children the best possible start in life.  This Mission Statement is our bench mark for determining successes and outcomes.

""To support, nurture and empower families, children and their caregivers."

Research supports that the first six years of a child's life are the most important in preparing children for success.  OPCC has become the leading provider of parent-child programs in Oakville, with approximately 3500 parents attending our programs over the past two years.

Our Mission Statement and goals are reflected in the diversity of our programs.
