In 1980 a group of young moms met and recognized the need in Oakville for a place where parents could meet new friends, learn more about parenting and offer their children a healthy and safe environment where they could learn and play. This group of volunteer parents was committed to creating this special "place" in our community and from this energy the first program for the Oakville Parent-Child Centre was developed. "Mothers are People Too" began in a church basement and was the beginning of
30 years of program growth and development for the Oakville Parent-Child
Centre...

I am
very honoured and excited to be part of the Oakville Parent-Child Centre (OPCC)
team. Everything that I have seen, heard and experienced at the Centre has been
extremely positive. Everyone that I have talked to about the Centre has shared
stories of receiving wonderful support, admiration for the staff and the
importance of the Centre in their lives. I have mighty big shoes to fill with
Jill Snidal’s retirement from the Executive Director role!
OPCC will continue to deliver top quality programs to families throughout
Oakville. We exist to support, nurture and empower families, children and their
caregivers. We operate programs out of many locations and are always on the hunt
for more community locations for program delivery.
It doesn’t matter your situation (e.g. whether you’re a new mom or new dad, a
grandparent who is providing care for a grandchild, a parent of a preschooler,
etc.) we have lots of programs for people who are looking after children up to
grade 1.
My door is open to anyone in the community - please feel free to drop by and
introduce yourself to me. If you can't get into the Centre, email or phone are
other options - info@op-cc.ca and/or (905) 849-6366.
Regards,
Robin Garell
